Changing societal views of disability

EVERFI has worked with the Agitos Foundation, the development arm of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), to develop ‘I’mPOSSIBLE’, a global toolkit designed to spread the values and vision of the Paralympic Movement to young people around the world. The programme aims to change perceptions of disability and bring about social inclusion through Para sport experiences.

We worked closely with the Agitos Foundation and our audiences to create a solution that makes a real difference, changing lives and meeting the social purpose aims of the IPC. We tested our ideas and content with an international panel of teachers, creating lesson plans, resources and short films on the themes of Paralympic values and Para sport, and developed a promotional activation strategy and teacher training resource.

“Malawi is still a country where there is stigmatisation towards people with disabilities. We believe that teaching the youth will entrench in them the natural respect for fellow human beings without regard to race, colour, creed and disability. I’mPOSSIBLE will help them grow with an open and inclusive attitude and perception towards fellow human beings.”

James Chiutsi, President of NPC Malawi
